About the EAS and the team

In 1990 the British Mountain Guides Association liased with a representative from the Canadian Avalanche Association with a view to developing avalanche awareness training for Mountain Guides.

Since then our avalanche courses have developed and their reputation has spread. The avalanche course programme has been available to professional and committed skiers for a number of years and has become an integral part of training programmes for  professional organisations throughout Europe.

The EAS team of Instructors and Mountain Guides comprise;

Steve Jones - Per As - Bruce Goodlad -Nick Parks and Mark Diggins

All are qualified IFMGA Mountain Guides and Avalanche specialists .

The main objective of the courses offered is to give the participant an in-depth knowledge of snow structure, the processes of change within it, and through field experience, develop recognition of snowpack stability and confidence in ascertaining potential avalanche risk.

Field experience is used extensively during the courses  in order to develop a grounding for route finding and group management skills in potential avalanche terrain

The courses take place in La Grave  - France in the early part of the winter.
